Domschatzkammer Essen

The story begins in 852 with the founding of a women's penitent. For almost 1,000 years the women of this religious community determined the destinies of the town and the city of Essen. The glorious legacy of the monastery's high bloom in the 10th and 11th centuries is today impressively present in the world's largest ensemble of ottonian-salic goldsmithing: sacred art of singular beauty!
