You can take a look at the works of 13 artists from the ranks of the Kunstverein. The most diverse styles present themselves in a range of sculptures, drawings, paintings, photographs and installations. A colorful mixture awaits you, as the Italian title “mista” promises. You are cordially invited, accompanied by Felix Kogel’s musical accompaniment. Further information under www.kiss-untergroeningen.de.

August Sander from a rare perspective

The special exhibition “August Sander: The Face of Landscape. Rheinland und Siebengebirge” is dedicated to an aspect of the life’s work of the photographer August Sander (1876-1964) that has so far received little attention. In cooperation with the SK Foundation Cologne and the Siebengebirgsmuseum Königswinter, the Mittelrhein Museum is showing some very well-known works as well as works that have never before been exhibited. So far, the focus has been more on the portrait work “People of the 20th Century” by the internationally renowned photographer. However, several publications and exhibitions have already dealt with his landscape photography. In this way, connoisseurs of his work will be able to discover one side. He found numerous motifs for his works in the Siebengebirge and on the Middle Rhine. The exhibition will open on Friday, 19 October at 7 pm. Further information can be found at www.mittelrhein-museum.de/august-sander-das-gesicht-der-landschaft-rheinland-und-siebengebirge.

The Legacy of Barbara Göppel in Berlin

In cooperation with the Nationalgalerie and the Zentralarchiv – Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, the Kupferstichkabinett is presenting the exhibition “Max Beckmann. The Legacy of Barbara Göpel”. In the special exhibition hall of the Kulturforum, the entire legacy of the art historian Barbara Malwine Auguste Göpel (1922-2017) will be exhibited. The important collection comprises two paintings, 46 drawings and 52 graphic works by Max Beckmann as well as a painting by Hans Purrmann. The exhibition also focuses on the origin of the works. To date, none of the works have been found to suggest that they might be Nazi looted art. The opening of the exhibition will take place on Thursday, 25 October at 7 pm. Further information can be found at www.smb.museum/ausstellungen/detail/max-beckmann.

Series of events on the occasion of the destruction of Kassel 75 years ago

From Friday, 19 October to Monday, 22 October, a series of events will take place in Kassel on the occasion of the destruction of Kassel 75 years ago.
The ViKoNauten e. V., the Stadtmuseum and the Stadtarchiv offer a series of events under the title “43: What remains?”, at authentic places that can be visited, in which the horror of the bombing night 75 years ago is made a little more comprehensible. In addition, the horrors of the night from 22 to 23 October 1943 are depicted with a photo exhibition, projections and listening stations. Various guided tours address the causes, dimensions and consequences of the destruction. As part of the series of events, there is free admission to the Stadtmuseum on weekends. Further information on the individual events can be found at www.kassel.de/kultur/sehenswuerdigkeiten/Innenstadt.
